Here at GLW feeds we have formulated a number of ranges of different poultry feeds to meet the needs of poultry farmers, both small and large. We currently feed broilers, broiler breeders, slow growing free range chicken, pullets, table egg layers, ducks, geese and breeding and fattening turkeys. Our Traditional Farm Fresh turkey range is a "High Oat" diet which has proved very popular with farmers growing birds for the Christmas market.
All our diets are based on our extensive experience, having quality nutritional specifications with well balanced nutrient content to maximise good intestinal health. GLW diets are also formulated to minimise the levels of Crude Protein by careful inclusion of a number of essential amino acids. This ensures that the bird’s requirements for growth, feathering or egg production are fully met at all stages of production, without placing undue metabolic pressure on the bird to excrete excess crude protein. The net result is that less nitrogen is excreted in the faeces, which is beneficial for the environment.
Our mill has the most advanced feed hygiene system in the United Kingdom; this comprises a special vessel which utilises high temperature and retention (HTR), together with a dedicated down line mill system (pellet press, crumbler, cooler, conveyors and product out-loading bins. This is specially designed for the production of high quality mashes and pellets minimising the risk of bacterial contamination entering the food chain via the feed.
Our formulation work is done by Andrew Ball and Anthony Waller of D.S.M. Nutritional Product UK Ltd., worldwide producers of minerals, vitamins and renowned experts in chemicals and bio technology. We do not use regular "least cost formulations" to produce our diets but rather "best cost formulations", we believe that is right to have good diets which are consistent, so that birds are not subject to changing diet composition. As with all GLW diets the declared protein level is the same as the actual protein content of the diets manufactured.
