Calf CribHigher Growth Rates - When calves are reared outside in a ‘Calf-Crib’ they consume more food, therefore growth rates are increased. The healthier environment of a ‘Calf-Crib’ improves feed conversion efficiency therefore maximising growth rates.

Reduced Health Problems - The ‘Calf-Crib’ is made from blue polyethylene which attracts fewer flies than other colours resulting in less disease transmission through the presence of bacteria and viruses. It also has the advantage of allowing less heat transfer in direct sunlight.

The GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ is one of the largest individual calf hutches on the market, giving the calf more open space, better air flow and freedom to move within the hutch and, as such, calves may be left in this optimum environment for longer.

The GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ allows the calf to receive individual attention. When calves are reared in a Calf-Crib it is easier to monitor each individual calf’s health and performance. The risk of disease spread from calf to calf is greatly reduced.

The ‘Calf-Crib’ is well ventilated providing an ideal environment for the calf thereby reducing the risk of respiratory diseases. The GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ has a large open doorway to the front and ventilation holes to the rear as well as an access flap that can be lifted and pinned back on the side of the hutch. The side flap allows easier access to the feed bucket.

Calf in CribDurable - GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ is rotationally moulded resulting in extreme durability which will function well in all climates. The polyethylene is UV stabilised and is an impact resistant one piece moulding. The material will withstand hard use for many years in all weathers. In addition it is 100% recyclable.

Easy to Clean - The surfaces of the GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ are smooth which makes the cleaning of the hutches much easier and there are no holes or crevices in which dirt can hide to cause problems later. The GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ comes with two eye bolts at the top of the hutch allowing the hutch to be raised in the air by a tele-handler and thoroughly cleaned / sanitized from the inside, making it a less labour intensive operation.

Options - An optional Corral enclosure package is available with the GLW ‘Calf-Crib’ that fits around the front of the hutch. It is made up of three galvanised hurdles that fix to the hutch and open up to allow easy access for the handling of the calf. Included with this package are all necessary fittings and a galvanised two bucket holder that fits onto the hurdles. Calves are more likely to urinate and excrete when drinking water and milk, therefore these buckets are outside to allow free drainage and easier cleaning down of the corral area.
